At a time when Judah faced the imminent threat of Assyrian invasion, the people sought answers everywhere but from God. Isaiah the prophet spoke into this crisis, telling the nation that what they needed wasn’t stronger armies or clever politics, but a vision of God who brings salvation. Their rebellion had led them into trouble, and only wholehearted repentance could restore them. Isaiah painted a picture of a God so vast and powerful—a “God of armies” greater than Assyria—that it would fill their vision, leaving no room for fear. He also prophesied a future Messiah who would rule with righteousness and justice, bringing peace to a world that knows Him. This vision, then and now, reminds us that, like Judah, we need our eyes turned to the Lord of hosts to find true peace.

We have embarked on a sermon series in the first section of Isaiah covering chapters 1-12. We plan to address subsequent sections of Isaiah in a future sermon series.

There are two ways to participate in our study. First, teaching occurs during the Sunday sermons, available live at the chapel on Sunday mornings at 11:15 am or via Live Stream. Sermon video replays are available on Fairhaven’s YouTube channel as well as in our Sermon Archives. You can also listen to audio replays on this website (see links below).

The second way to participate is to join a small group. These Bible study groups meet during the week to discuss that week’s passage. This is a vital opportunity to interact with and learn from other believers about the passage for that week.

Following are links to our Audio & Video recordings and to the Bible study discussion questions.
