The gospel of Matthew presents Jesus the Messiah as the King of Israel. Since his intended audience was primarily Jewish, Matthew unfolds the story of Jesus’s life from birth to resurrection in order to emphasize how the Old Testament prophecies to the Jewish people have now been fulfilled in Jesus.

We have launched a Sunday morning teaching series on the first seven chapters in the gospel of Matthew. During December we are studying passages on the Christmas story from chapters 1-2. In January we will move into the beginning of Jesus’ ministry from chapters 3-4, and then finish the 3-month series with the Sermon on the Mount from chapters 5-7. We plan to continue at a later date, starting with chapter 8.

There are two ways to participate in our study. First, teaching occurs during the Sunday sermons, available live at the chapel on Sunday mornings at 11:15 am or via Live Stream. Sermon video replays are available on Fairhaven’s YouTube channel as well as in our Sermon Archives. You can also listen to audio replays on this website (see links below).

The second way to participate is to join a small group. These Bible study groups meet during the week to discuss that week’s passage, using questions prepared by one of the speakers. This is a vital opportunity to interact with and learn from other believers about the passage for that week. Our small group studies will be taking a break for the holidays during the month of December, but will resume in January and get caught up on what was taught from the pulpit during December. January would be a great time to join a small group if you didn’t get a chance to do so during our fall series!

Downloads of the Bible Study discussion questions prepared by the speaker will be available beginning in January.
